Ban Ki-moon stressed Tokayev's significant contribution to development of international cooperation

The Head of State held a meeting with Mr. Ban Ki-moon, President of the Assembly and Chair of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI),El.kz reports with reference to the press service of Akorda.

Expressing gratitude to Ban Ki-moon for the invitation to take part in the Boao Forum, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted his significant services to the world community as UN Secretary-General.

From my point of view, you were one of the best secretaries-general in the history of the United Nations. It was a pleasure and honor for me to work at the UN under your leadership for two and a half years," the President said.

Ban Ki-moon emphasized the significant contribution of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the development of international cooperation.

"As the leader of Kazakhstan, you are making active efforts to ensure peace and harmony in the region and empower people and the UN. I think that Kazakhstan serves as a vital bridge between the East and the West. You have vast experience in understanding the world order of the East and the West," the Korean diplomat said.

The sides discussed the international agenda, including the role of the UN in effectively overcoming global challenges.

The President spoke about Kazakhstan's international initiatives.

Within the framework of the 79th session of the General Assembly, Kazakhstan, together with France, plans to hold the One Water Summit. In addition, the Regional Climate Summit will be organized in Astana in 2026.

The Head of State invited Ban Ki-moon to take part in the upcoming Astana International Forum as one of the main speakers.
