Austrian parliamentarians step up interparliamentary dialogue with Kazakhstan
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Austria, Mukhtar Tileuberdi, took part in a joint meeting of the Ambassadors of Central Asia and Mongolia with members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Austria - members of the Austria-Central Asia Parliamentary Friendship Group. The parties discussed prospects for further strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation and interaction between parliamentarians of the countries in the framework of multilateral structures such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, OSCE PA and PACE.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan gave a detailed account of the political reforms undertaken by Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, including the expansion of the powers of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the increased role of political parties in the life of the country.
For their part, Austrian parliamentarians confirmed their interest in intensifying interparliamentary dialogue with the countries of Central Asia, including through the exchange of mutual visits by parliamentary “friendship groups”.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on current issues on the international agenda. They agreed to hold regular meetings to promote interparliamentary cooperation.
