Two medals were won by Kazakh athletes at the F40 Open Championship in Para Table Tennis in Egypt, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Committee for Sports and Physical Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In mixed doubles, Talgat Erekeyev and Altynai Yerzhankyzy won silver medals, and in doubles, Ali Makhulbekov and Talgat Erekeyev won bronze medals. The F40 competitions are ranked and important for participation in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. These tournaments, such as F40, take place at least 5 times a year, and F20 about 20-25 times a year. In March, Astana is scheduled to host the first international open championship F20 in the history of Kazakhstan, where 135 athletes from 14 countries are expected to participate. Such competitions are important for updating the performance and demonstrating the skills of national athletes. The F40 Open Championship in Egypt was held from January 23 to 28 in the city of Giza and attracted participants from 27 countries of the world.

"This is one of the ranking competitions for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Our athletes must prove their skills at such competitions and update their performance. In Pair Table Tennis, ranking points are scored in the Fa20 and Fa40 competitions.

A special feature of the Fa40 is that it gives high points for the ranking and only athletes who have already participated in the Fa20 take part in the competition. In general, such competitions as Fa40 are held at least 5 times during the year, and Fa20 about 20-25 times. In March, the first international open championship of Fа20 in the history of Kazakhstan is expected in Astana. 135 athletes from 14 countries are expected to take part in it."said Yerlan Dusmailov, head of the para table tennis team of the Sports Training Center for Persons with Disabilities.
