At least 11 thousand tourists arrive in Kazakhstan every week

The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan told about the interim results of tourism for the first half of 2022, El.kz reports.

• According to the department, 550 thousand people visited the Shchuchinsk resort area, which is almost 2 times more compared to the same period last year;

• About 240 thousand people visited Shymbulak during the summer season, which is almost 90 thousand more than in last year's summer season.

About 2 million visits to national parks are projected this year.

According to the results of the 1st quarter of 2022:

• The number of domestic tourists served by accommodation increased by 21.5%, amounting to 1.13 million people;

• Accommodation facilities provided services in the amount of 26.3 billion tenge, which is more by 25.7% compared to Q1 2021;

• At least 11 thousand foreign tourists arrive in Kazakhstan every week;

In the global ranking of tourism according to the World Economic Forum in 2021, Kazakhstan improved its position and took 66th place among 117 countries (in 2019 - 80th place out of 140). The country was highly evaluated for such indicators as "Price competitiveness" (1st place), "Tourism seasonality" (26th place), "Natural resources" (33rd place), "Number of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites" (42nd place).

In 2021, a record number of domestic tourists was recorded in Kazakhstan: almost 7 million people.
