ASTANA WINTER PARK, a new ice park, is being prepared for opening in Astana’s Linear Park. The first visitors are expected on November, 15 according to the official website of the capital’s city administration.
The ice-skating route will extend for 1,400 metres. Designed for public skating and family recreation, the park will feature an extensive network of ice trails rather than a conventional rectangular rink.
The total ice surface will cover 6,000 square metres. Rest areas and festive lighting will be installed along the route.
Skate rental, pavilions and food outlets
Visitors will be able to rent skates and warm up in heated pavilions. Dedicated rest areas will be provided for families with children, and food outlets will operate nearby.
The quality of the ice will be maintained using professional refrigeration equipment and specialised ice-resurfacing machines. This equipment will help keep the surface smooth even during periods of thaw and heavy visitor traffic.
Illuminated ice and the first season
The organisers are also exploring the possibility of installing lighting and interactive systems to create visual effects directly on the ice surface. No final decision has yet been made on this component of the project.
The ice park is being developed with private investment and the involvement of international specialists in ice infrastructure. The first season will run until March,31 2027.
