Astana to host WorldSkills Republican Championship 2023

On November 22, 2023, the WorldSkills 2023 Republican Championship starts in the Kazakh capital at the Expo International Exhibition Center. The event will bring together 545 students and 520 experts from 20 regions of the country, which makes it a significant event in the field of technical and vocational education, El.kz reports.

The purpose of the championship is to increase the prestige of blue-collar professions, introduce best practices and professional standards, as well as develop the expert community.

"The championship will be held in 7 areas and 30 competencies. The work on the selection and assessment of experts is automated to ensure the transparency of the WorldSkills Championship," said Akzira Kasymova, Deputy Director of the Department of Technical and Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This year, 400 regional experts were trained on WorldSkills standards, which contributed to a better understanding of the criteria-based assessment and procedures required to ensure the transparency and quality of the championship.

The winners of the championship who won prizes will have the opportunity to represent Kazakhstan at the WorldSkills international championship, which will be held in the French city of Lyon from September 10 to 15, 2024. This will provide them with a unique chance to demonstrate their skills and knowledge at the international level.
