Astana to host V World Nomad Games: grand event of ethnic sports
From 8 to 13 September 2024, Astana will host the V World Nomad Games, a unique international event dedicated to ethnic sports originating in the traditions of the nomadic peoples of Central Asia. The Games will become a platform for demonstrating the rich cultural and historical heritage of Kazakhstan,El.kz reports.
The Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been actively preparing the opening ceremony since the beginning of the year. About 3,000 artists will take part in the show, including collectives of subordinate organizations and regional creative groups. On September 8 at 4:00 p.m a concert will begin with the participation of Kazakh pop stars, where guests will be able to enjoy Kazakh culture through music, dance and traditional arts. The official opening ceremony starts at 7:00 p.m and will be a large-scale two-hour performance using modern stage technologies and multimedia design.
Participants will compete in 21 ethnic sports, including horse racing, national wrestling, martial arts, archery and traditional intellectual games. A total of 97 sets of medals are planned to be played.
The key moment of the ceremony will be a parade of sports delegations, and the final will be a musical composition about the friendship of peoples performed by People's Artist of Kazakhstan Dimash Qudaibergen. For those who will not be able to attend the event, a live broadcast will be organized on the TV channels "Qazaqstan", "Qazsport", "Jibek Joly" and "Khabar".
The World Nomad Games were established to popularize ethnic sports and the cultural heritage of nomadic peoples. The first games were held in 2014 in Kyrgyzstan, and since then their popularity has been constantly growing.
