Astana to host intl Kazakhstan Open 2025 Taekwondo (WT) Tournament

The international tournament is scheduled to take place from August 14 to 16 at the Martial Arts Palace is named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Included in the official World Taekwondo calendar, the event will bring together over 750 athletes from 22 countries, including Olympic champions and world ranking leaders, El.kz reports.

“Hosting the Kazakhstan Open in Astana is our contribution to strengthening international sports dialogue and developing taekwondo in Kazakhstan. The tournament will unite the strongest athletes, inspire young people, and allow us to make our mark on the global stage. We are grateful to all our partners and international organizations for their trust.

The tournament will feature athletes from the first, second, and third squads of the national team. This is a great opportunity to identify those who will deliver outstanding results.” Yesbol Sultanov, Head Coach of the Kazakhstan national team said.

Kazakhstan Open 2025 will bring together cadets, juniors, and senior athletes from Afghanistan, Armenia, Canada, France, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Oman, Luxembourg, Morocco, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Tunisia, the UAE, the USA.

The tournament will be the first in Kazakhstan to use new electronic gloves and the updated KPNP K-2 system for precise strike detection. Spectators will also witness the debut performance of the World Taekwondo Demonstration Team.

With a prize fund of 15.8 million tenge, Kazakhstan Open 2025 goes beyond being just a sporting event, highlighting Kazakhstan’s ambitions in the global sports arena. The tournament continues the tradition of G-1 international competitions previously held in Almaty (2015) and Atyrau (2017), reaffirming Kazakhstan’s return to the world taekwondo map.

It will also serve as an important step in preparations for the 2026 Grand Prix Final.

Kazakhstan Open 2025 promises to be a landmark event, showcasing both the athletes’ skills and Astana’s organizational capacity. From August 14 to 16, the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Martial Arts Palace will welcome the world’s top athletes, ready to compete for medals and international recognition.
