15.10.2025 11:57

The first meeting of the Association of PR and Media Professionals (APRM) was held in Astana. The event gathered over 80 industry representatives, including press secretaries of government bodies, heads and advisors of PR departments of national companies and businesses, as well as leaders of media outlets and communication agencies,  El.kz reports.

During the meeting, participants set the priorities for the Association’s further development. Based on the results of the vote, five specialized committees were established:

1. Committee on Professional Competencies and Standards;

2. Committee on Communication Research and Analytics;

3. Committee on the Status and Reputation of the PR Profession;

4. Committee on Ethics and Self-Regulation;

5. Committee on Media and Public Engagement.

The work of these committees will serve as a foundation for developing professional standards, ethical principles, conducting industry research, and strengthening the PR community across the country.

“APRM is an institution that will contribute to the advancement of the profession and address key challenges in the field. Having 226 approved applications in just two months is a clear sign of trust and proof of the real demand in the market. We see that the needs of professionals from different sectors align, which means the chosen direction is right. The first meeting was held in a workshop format to immediately engage members in the process and show that everyone here has a voice,” APRM Chair Akerke Berlibay emphasized.

“The Association’s Council includes representatives from both the public and private sectors — professionals from PR, HR, and media. This will ensure a balanced approach to the issues addressed by the Association. The Council will perform a strategic function — defining priority areas for industry development, advising the Association’s committees, and representing a consolidated position before the government and society. Our goal is not just to unite professionals, but to create a platform for systemic solutions that will strengthen the reputation and professional standards of the industry in Kazakhstan,” APRM Council Chair Elena Pak said.

The Association of PR and Media Professionals is a public organization established in the spring of 2025. As of today, APRM unites 226 members.
