Kazakh Senate Chairman Maulen Ashimbayev, held a meeting with the Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonian.

The parties discussed the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, trade and economic collaboration, as well as humanitarian issues and international initiatives, El.kz reports citing the press service of the Senate.

During the meeting, Maulen Ashimbayev welcomed the Armenian delegation, emphasizing that a stable political dialogue has been established between Kazakhstan and Armenia, and relations are developing in various fields.

"Armenia is a reliable and close partner of Kazakhstan. A trusting political dialogue has been established between our countries, economic cooperation is strengthening, and cultural and humanitarian ties are expanding," Kazakh Senate Chairman noted.

He reminded of the importance of recent high-level visits: the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Yerevan in 2023 and the  visit of the President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan to Astana. During the negotiations, key documents were signed, including a Joint Statement of the heads of state and a Roadmap for trade and economic cooperation for 2024-2025.

"The adopted documents set new benchmarks for cooperation, confirming the inviolability of Kazakh-Armenian friendship and partnership," Maulen Ashimbayev emphasized.

Kazakh Senate speaker paid special attention to inter-parliamentary interaction, noting the active work of friendship groups in both parliaments and regular contacts on multilateral platforms — within the framework of the CIS IPA, the Parliamentary Assemblies of the OSCE, the Council of Europe, and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

We highly value the established friendly relations between the Parliaments of Kazakhstan and Armenia. Inter-parliamentary interaction is taking on a systematic and comprehensive nature," he noted. Discussing economic potential, the parties expressed readiness to implement joint projects in the areas of transportation, logistics, energy, and information technology. In addition, humanitarian cooperation and the promotion of spiritual diplomacy became a focal point.

Maulen Ashimbayev informed  his Armenian colleagues about the preparations for the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will take place in September in Astana. In turn, Alen Simonyan highly evaluated Kazakhstan's international initiatives and confirmed Armenia's commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in various areas.
