The Amur tigress Ümit began hunting after being released into the wild. In her first ten days in Kazakhstan, she took down a wolf and a wild boar, El.kz reports.
It became clear that the tigress had killed a wolf and fed on it for several days. Later, she hunted a wild boar.
Ümit’s movements are monitored using a GPS collar. Based on data indicating the locations where she stops, specialists travel to those areas and conduct field inspections.
Her ability to hunt independently indicates that the tigress is adapting to her new environment and is capable of obtaining food without human assistance. Monitoring of her adaptation continues on a daily basis.
