Almaty chosen as headquarters of World Vitiligo Day
For the first time, the city of Almaty has been chosen as the international headquarters of the 13th World Vitiligo Day on June 24, 2023, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As part of the WVD campaign, an international conference entitled "Vitiligo: A Look into the Future" will be held in 2023 with the participation of practitioners, researchers and patients from around the world.
The conference will be held in the sanatorium "Almaty Resort" in Almaty.
Globally, about 100 million people suffer from vitiligo, an autoimmune disease that affects the skin and can lead to severe psychological consequences.
The goal of the WVD campaign is to help patients overcome prejudices, access modern treatments for vitiligo and have full lives.
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan declares June 2023 the "Vitiligo Awareness Month", and invites doctors, patients, public organizations, the media, bloggers and everyone who is not indifferent to the suffering of people with non-standard appearances to take part in the international conference dedicated to World Vitiligo Day 2023.
