The ALMA LOVE 2026 Youth Festival officially commenced in Almaty with EcoDay, a large-scale environmental campaign. Over 600 young people participated in environmental clean-up activities across different parts of the city in support of the nationwide Taza Kazakhstan initiative, El.kz cites the Press Service of the Almaty City Youth Policy Department.

The festival is organized with the support of the Almaty City Youth Policy Department.

The opening day of the festival gathered  youth organizations, volunteers, civic activists, and local residents under a shared commitment to launch ALMA LOVE by taking meaningful action to improve their city. Participants cleaned residential courtyards and public spaces, organized environmental awareness challenges, engaged with local communities, and encouraged residents to protect the environment, maintain public cleanliness, and contribute to creating a safe, clean, and comfortable urban environment.

The environmental campaign marked a symbolic beginning to this year’s festival, which is being held under the slogan “Qala senen bastalady. The City Begins with You.” The central message emphasizes that love for Almaty begins with everyday actions respecting public spaces, caring for one’s neighborhood, street, and district, and taking responsibility for the places where people live, study, and work.

The event also supports the nationwide Taza Kazakhstan initiative launched by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It aims to promote environmental awareness, strengthen the volunteer movement, and foster a sense of personal responsibility among young people for environmental protection and sustainable urban development.

According to one of the participants, initiatives of this kind not only help make the city cleaner but also unite young people around shared civic values.

“We chose to begin the festival not with concerts, but with meaningful community service. It is a powerful symbol that love for one’s city is demonstrated through actions rather than words. If every resident takes care of at least their own courtyard or street, Almaty will become cleaner, more beautiful, and more comfortable for everyone. Genuine civic responsibility begins with these simple everyday actions,” environmental activist and blogger Dulat Nabiyev said

Overall, EcoDay engaged over 600 participants in environmental activities. The campaign served as the opening event of the ALMA LOVE 2026 Youth Festival, which will run until 12 August and feature dozens of educational, cultural, sports, creative, and civic engagement events across the city.
