A model of the future Alatau City has appeared on social media. As it turned out, the city will look like Dubai. It will feature artificial peninsulas with buildings, and among the architectural designs one can spot a Sphere similar to the one in the capital. The city plan also includes green spaces, business districts, and modern residential complexes, El.kz reports.

The project of the new city, Alatau City is gaining attention in Kazakhstan. After new models and visualizations appeared online, users compared the future metropolis to Dubai: artificial peninsulas, abundant greenery, and a Sphere among the buildings that resembles Astana’s landmark.

State Support and Special Status

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the preparation of a draft decree granting Alatau City a special status with direct subordination, as well as the development of a separate law on the city’s governance regime.

According to Head of State , without a special legal status, all the planned initiatives risk remaining only on paper. The city is expected to become the region’s first fully digital metropolis, featuring Smart City elements and even the possibility of paying for goods and services with cryptocurrency.
