Brain surgeries in Karaganda will be performed with the help of an AI–powered robot,El.kz reports citing the region’s mayor office.

Doctors at the Multidisciplinary Hospital named after Professor K.Zh. Makazhanov has become the first in Kazakhstan to acquire the next-generation neurosurgical system Remebot RM-200. This AI-driven robot is capable of performing brain operations with submillimeter precision.

The equipment was purchased using local budget funds and will soon be put into operation. Regional mayor Bulekpayev Yermaganbet has already inspected the new complex, emphasizing that the development of medical infrastructure remains one of the region’s top priorities.

“The introduction of a robotic neurosurgical complex will allow our doctors to perform surgeries with the highest precision, giving patients a greater chance of successful recovery,” said the regional head.

Remebot RM-200 not only assists surgeons but also independently analyzes data uploaded into the system. The first operations — intracranial biopsies and brain tumor ablations — have already been scheduled.

According to the hospital’s director, Yerkin-Dauir Kurmangaliyev, the new technology will enable doctors to carry out over 300 high-tech procedures annually.

“The accuracy of reaching the target point is less than a millimeter. This opens up opportunities for surgeries related to Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, brain tumors, and hematomas,” he noted.

Previously, Karaganda specialists performed such operations manually. Now, thanks to the hybrid Reme-Hybrid system, the hospital’s capabilities have greatly expanded. Before launching the project, doctors underwent training in China, where such complexes are already in successful use.

The new technology — combining artificial intelligence and robotic mechanics — will help surgeons reduce invasiveness, speed up patient recovery, and achieve surgical precision that meets global standards.
