SenseRobot has launched a crowdfunding campaign for its chess assistant, Chess Mini, a robot that plays against a human on a real board, moves the pieces on its own, and comments on the game in a dialogue format, El.kz reports.
The device uses computer vision technology to track the position on the board and is equipped with manipulators that precisely move the pieces. Its built-in AI model analyzes the game, explains strategies, points out mistakes, and can communicate in languages, including English, French, and German. According to the developers, Chess Mini’s training database includes over 1,200 exercises and 145 endgame scenarios. In addition, the robot supports integration with popular online platforms, allowing users to play against real opponents while maintaining the physical format of the game.
The new device is a portable version of the larger SenseRobot Chess model, which was presented at CES 2025. Chess Mini is positioned as a more affordable solution for home use.
The pre-order price is $399, with first deliveries scheduled for July 2026.
