Achievements of Kazakhstan in field of human rights protection announced in Spain

The annual meeting of the General Assembly of the International Commission Against the Death Penalty (ICDP) was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation of Spain, El.kz cites Kazakh FM.

The meeting was attended by the leadership and members of the ICDP, representatives of the member countries of the organization's support group and the diplomatic corps of the host country, during which the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Spain Danat Musayev made a speech.

In his speech, the kazakh diplomat noted the decision of the Republic of Kazakhstan to join the Second Optional Protocol of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights – the International Protocol on the abolition of the death penalty, summed up the reforms carried out in the Republic of Kazakhstan and ongoing work in the field of human rights protection, and also announced a number of initiatives of the country, including the signing on April 15 last year the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is responsible for ensuring the rights of women and the safety of children.

In addition, the participants of the event discussed the Agreement on the Status and Functions of the ICDP, the future strategy and budget of this organization.
