90% of IT services focused in Almaty and Astana - analysts
For the first half of this year, the volume of services provided in the field of computer programming, consulting and other related services in the sector, taking into account the non-observed sector of the economy, reached 476.8 billion tenge, which is 56.4% more than in the corresponding period last year in monetary terms. The IV (index volume) amounted to 137.2%, which means a real increase in the volume of services in the sector by 37.2%, El.kz reports with reference to Finprom.
Not taking into account the non-observed sector of the economy, the volume of services in this sector reached 473.1 billion tenge, showing an annual growth of 55.1%.
In contrast: in the corresponding period of the previous year, this figure was 304.9 billion tenge, an increase of 52.9% in value terms for the year. In general, the sector has been showing growth since 2016.
The main share of all services in this industry, namely 90.4%, is concentrated only in the two main megacities of the country - Almaty and Astana. In Almaty, this figure reached 215.4 billion tenge, which is 28.2% more compared to the previous year in monetary terms. In the capital, the volume of services provided in the field of computer programming and other related services amounted to 212.1 billion tenge compared to 108.5 billion tenge last year, almost doubling.
With a large gap behind the largest cities, the West Kazakhstan region is in third place with an indicator of 7.1 billion tenge, compared to 1.6 billion tenge in the previous year.
The lowest values were noted in Ulytau, Turkestan and Zhetysu regions.
In the context of the services provided in this industry, the bulk of services falls on software development, amounting to 278.8 billion tenge, showing an annual growth of 2.2 times.
Software maintenance services, amounting to 34.2 billion tenge, and information and communication infrastructure management services related to the creation and development of state electronic information resources and systems, in the amount of 29.2 billion tenge, are also in great demand.
At the same time, there is an increase in the number of IT students at universities in Kazakhstan, according to the official website of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Modern IT schools provide the necessary personnel for the development of the country's innovative economy, and a policy is being pursued aimed at placing such educational institutions in various regions of the country.
