55,000 children with special needs study in Kazakhstani schools
In the new academic year, the number of students with special educational needs has increased in the country's schools, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
If in the 2021-2022 academic year more than 49 thousand special children were taught in inclusive classes, then this year there are already about 55 thousand. This becomes possible due to the creation of special conditions in schools and the development and adoption of new regulatory legal acts.
"The Head of State in his Address noted that education should be accessible and inclusive. In general education schools, conditions are created for the education of special children. Ramps, tactile paths, special handrails and other devices are installed for unhindered access of special children to the educational institution. The position of teaching assistant has been introduced in schools. Teaching assistants help special children to adapt to the organization of education. Along with this, the state standard provides variability, flexibility of curricula and programs. They are adapted taking into account the individual characteristics of a child with special educational needs," Aigerim Kuderinova, Director of the National Scientific and Practical Center for the Development of Special and Inclusive Education said.
