48th ICPC World Finals Championship started in Astana
Astana hosts the 48th ICPC World Finals Championship, the world's most prestigious collegiate programming competition, El.kz reports.
142 teams have qualified for this year's Championship, out of a pool of 70,000 participants, representing 3,000 universities across 111 countries representing prestigious universities, such as Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Oxford, Cambridge etc.
Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev, speaking at the ceremony, stressed the importance of digitalization and IT development in Kazakhstan, noting that the participation of five Kazakh teams indicates the high level of training of students in the country. ICPC President Bill Poucher and President of Competitive Programming Federation Bagdat Mussin also welcomed the participants and noted the success of Kazakh students in the international arena.
