4 Kazakh schoolchildren participate in International Chemistry Olympiad In Switzerland
The International Chemistry Olympiad IChO-2023 has started in Zurich (Switzerland.More than 350 schoolchildren from 88 countries of the world take part in the intellectual competition. Among them is the national team of Kazakhstan. It consisted of 4 schoolchildren from the cities of Astana, Aktau, Pavlodar and Ust-Kamenogorsk. All of them are winners of the Republican Olympiad, and are also included in the Olympic reserve of the Republic of Kazakhstan, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan
The Olympiad attracts schoolchildren who are recognized as the best in the national chemistry Olympiads of their countries. The Olympiad consists of theoretical and experimental rounds. Both tours last up to 5 hours and take place on different days.
The rounds are evaluated independently of each other, and the sum of the exam results determines the total result of the participant. The international jury, which consists of two leaders of each of the participating countries, votes for the tasks, discusses them and translates them into a language convenient for participants from a particular country," said Azim Amanzholov, scientific director of the team.
The results of the Olympiad will be announced on July 24. The ministry noted that the awarding of medals will be held according to the following principle: 12% of the participants of the Olympiad (winners) will receive gold; Silver - the next 22% of winners, and bronze - 32% of students. 10% of participants will be awarded certificates of honor.
