1.7 trillion tenge to be invested in development of Kazakhstan's single-industry towns

The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has approved extensive plans for the socio-economic development of ten single-industry towns in the country with investments of 1.7 trillion tenge until 2027. These plans cover the cities of Zhanatas, Karatau and Ridder in the period from 2023 to 2027, in addition to previously adopted plans for the cities of Altai, Arkalyk, Balkhash, Zhitikara, Lisakovsk, Serebryansk and Stepnogorsk, El.kz reports with reference to the Official Telegram channel of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The projects in the 10 Comprehensive Plans include the implementation of 608 initiatives focused on the construction and repair of healthcare, education and sports facilities, the development of engineering infrastructure, medium-sized enterprises and agriculture, as well as the purchase of modern equipment.

In particular, it is planned to implement 75 events with investments of more than 3 billion tenge in the city of Zhanatas. The city of Karatau will receive extra-budgetary investments in the amount of about 50 billion tenge. One of the notable projects is the construction of a mining and processing plant in Arkalyk after a geological study of the deposits of the Mayatas cluster, which will cost 315 billion tenge and create 1.2 thousand new jobs.

In the city of Balkhash, the index of physical volume of industrial production is expected to increase by 8.5%, with a projected increase in the share of the manufacturing industry to 90% and the attraction of 57 billion tenge of investments in fixed assets.

It is important to note that the development of single-industry towns is part of the state policy aimed at supporting sustainable growth and well-being of citizens living in these areas.

The Head of State instructed to prepare an appropriate Roadmap, which is currently being developed by the Ministry of National Economy in order to apply an integrated approach to the development of single-industry towns.

The roadmap includes the development of a unified list of measures of state support for single-industry towns, the creation of industrial zones and territories of advanced development, as well as other key aspects that will help promote socio-economic growth in these regions.
