15th International "Astana Mining & Metallurgy" Congress kicked off in Astana
The 15th International Mining and Metallurgy Congress Astana Mining & Metallurgy – AMM 2025 has begun its work in the capital of Kazakhstan, El.kz reports citing the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The anniversary event has become a significant platform for discussing current challenges and prospects in the extraction and processing of mineral resources in Kazakhstan and the Eurasian space.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, theVice Minister of Industry and Construction of Iran, Sharkan, emphasized that Kazakhstan continues to systematically reform the subsoil use sector. In particular, the Western Australian regulatory model has been implemented, ensuring simplicity and transparency in obtaining licenses.Since 2018, more than 420 billion tenge has been attracted to geological exploration in the country.
Plans are in place to expand the covered area from 1.9 to 2.2 million square kilometers by 2026. This opens up new opportunities for investors to explore the mineral resource base.
The speaker paid special attention to the digitalization of geological exploration data and the transition to the international CRIRSCO standard, which ensures trust from global players.
Iran Sharhan also commented on export mechanisms: licensing, according to him, does not restrict the export of raw materials abroad but is aimed at supporting domestic processors.
As a result, the volumes of deep processing of aluminum in the country have increased by 83% over two years, and copper by 33%.
