Young writers of Kazakhstan to get Presidential Literary Award

Kazakh  Ministry of Culture and Sports told about the execution of the instructions of President Tokayev, given in the article "Independence above all" on January 5, 2021” El.kz reports.

According to the ministry, in 2021, 40 literary works for children written by national authors were printed in 120 thousand copies and sent to libraries in Kazakhstan.

Of these, 4 books are translated into the Kazakh language of children's works of foreign writers.

"In 2022, 23 children's works with a total circulation of 69 thousand units were distributed to all state libraries in the regions. Two of them are translations of world children's literature into the Kazakh language," the report said.

The department also noted that in 2022 the national literary competition "Ayboz" was held, consisting of 7 nominations, including "The Best Children's Literature" and "The Best Comic". The winners received cash prizes in the amount of 5 million tenge, and their works were printed and replenished the libraries of Kazakhstan.

"In 2023, in order to support children's literature and young authors, the Presidential Literary Prize will be awarded for the first time. The award will be given to young writers aged 18 to 35 years in four categories: "Prose", "Poetry", "Dramaturgy", "Children's Literature". The winners will receive prizes in the amount of 4 million tenge," the Ministry of Culture reports.
