According to information provided by the Uzbek edition of Championat.asia, for the successful holding of the World Cup in 2034, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan need to build at least 13 new stadiums, as well as the reconstruction of three existing, El.kz reports.

The study indicates a trend in the number of stadiums used for the World Cup. If 20 stadiums were involved in the 2002 World Cup, then in 2018 their number was reduced to 12, and in 2022 to 8. The number of arenas specially built for the tournament has also decreased.

The minimum capacity of stadiums should be about 35-40 thousand spectators on average. In Uzbekistan, only the Pakhtakor and Bunyodkor stadiums meet such requirements, but both arenas need reconstruction. It is especially important to pay attention to Pakhtakor, perhaps it will be easier to completely rebuild it than to reconstruct it. There is only one stadium in Kazakhstan that meets these requirements – the Astana Arena, built in 2009 and with a capacity of 33,000 spectators.

In addition, it is worth considering that at the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, the number of participating teams will increase from 32 to 48. In this regard, the number of stadiums where the matches of the tournament will be held will increase - 16.

As a result, in order to organize a successful World Cup in 2034, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan need to build at least 13 new stadiums and reconstruct three existing ones in order to meet the requirements of the world football tournament.
