The list of countries offering visa-free entry to citizens of Kazakhstan continues to expand. Indonesia joined the list this summer, bringing the total number of visa-free destinations to several dozen, El.kz reports.

Indonesia becomes a new visa-free destination

As of 11 July, citizens of Kazakhstan may enter Indonesia without obtaining a visa for stays of up to 30 days. Previously, travellers were required to purchase a visa on arrival; this requirement has now been abolished.

The visa exemption does not waive other entry requirements. Prior to travel, visitors must complete an electronic arrival card, while travellers to Bali are still required to pay the local tourist levy. The visa-free stay cannot be extended after arrival, and visitors must leave the country before the permitted period expires.

Visa-free holiday destinations

Kazakhstan passport holders can travel visa-free to over 40 destinations.

Georgia offers the longest permitted stay, allowing visitors to remain in the country for up to one year. Armenia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines permit visa-free stays of up to six months.

Visa-free travel for up to 90 days is available to Türkiye, Albania, Mongolia, Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Andorra, Colombia, and several other countries. In the case of Türkiye, the permitted stay is calculated within a specified reference period in accordance with the country’s immigration regulations.

The largest category includes destinations allowing Kazakh citizens to stay for up to 30 days without a visa. These include China, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, the Maldives, Qatar, the Republic of Korea, Serbia, Viet Nam, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and several other popular tourist destinations.

Hong Kong, Iran, and Macao permit visa-free entry for up to 14 days.

Important information before departure

Even under visa-free arrangements, each destination maintains its own entry requirements.

The Republic of Korea requires travellers to obtain a K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization)prior to departure. Malaysia requires visitors to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC), while Sri Lanka admits travellers only after they have obtained an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).

In many countries, border authorities may request supporting documentation, including a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation, valid travel medical insurance, or evidence of sufficient financial means for the duration of the stay.

Travellers intending to remain beyond the visa-free period must obtain an appropriate visa or complete the required registration procedures with the competent migration authorities of the host country.

Another widely applied requirement concerns passport validity. Many countries require passports to remain valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended date of departure. Travellers are advised to verify the latest entry requirements in advance through the official resources of MFA or the consular authorities of their intended destination.
