The 5th meeting of the Ulttyq Qurultay under the Kazakh President is taking place in Kyzylorda, El.kz reports.
Addressing the session, President of Kazakhstan focused on the global environmental issue concerning the Aral Sea.
He emphasized that the Aral Sea crisis remains highly relevant and extends far beyond national borders.
“It is impossible not to address the Aral issue. Saving the Aral Sea remains an urgent task for all of humanity,” the President said.
According to Kazakh leader, years of focused and consistent efforts have helped to preserve the North Aral Sea.
Tokayev recalled that five years have already passed since the launch of the sea restoration project. The President stressed the importance of continuing systematic work to restore the ecosystem of the Aral region and of engaging the international community in addressing this challenge.
Speaking at the Ulttyq Qurultay, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the contribution of citizens to the country’s development and emphasized the importance of patriotism, and strengthening social unity. The Head of State noted that the results achieved in recent years have been made possible through the joint efforts of the government and society.
“Thanks to our joint efforts, we have achieved economic growth: the country’s GDP has exceeded 300 bln dollars, with per capita income reaching 15,000 dollars. The National Fund’sreserves have reached 65 billion dollars, of which over 35 bln dollars are in gold and foreign currency reserves,” he said.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted, that sustainable economic development provides a foundation for further improving citizens’ well-being and for implementing the country’s strategic objectives.
The Head of State also highly praised the pace of development in Kyzylorda.
“Kyzylorda is developing in all areas - cultural, economic, and infrastructural. It is a region with a rich history and, at the same time, great potential for the future,” Tokayev noted.
Kazakh President announced plans to build a new Drama Theatre in Kyzylorda and stressed the need to begin construction this year.
According to Tokayev, the implementation of cultural projects aligns with the objectives of developing regional infrastructure and improving the quality of leisure and education for the population.
