Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin visited the branch of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Omsk, El.kz reports.
KazNU became the first Kazakhstani university to open a branch in Russia. The event was attended by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, and the Vitaly Khotsenko, Governor of Russia's Omsk Region.
The guests toured the academic building, library, and admissions office. Sayasat Nurbek spoke about the branches of Russian universities operating in Kazakhstan, while Zhanseit Tuimebayev shared the story behind the establishment of the Omsk branch, which was officially launched in November 2024 with the participation of the presidents of both countries.
“University branches are an important tool for strengthening ties between our peoples,” Mikhail Mishustin said expressing gratitude to Kazakhstan for supporting the operation of eight Russian university branches on its territory.
