Tokayev announces results of Kazakhstan's Chairmanship in CIS

The heads of state discussed a wide range of issues of interaction

Under the chairmanship of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS member states was held in a narrow format, El.kz reports with reference to Akorda.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his speech informed the leaders of the CIS countries about the main results of the multifaceted work that Kazakhstan has carried out over the past year together with partners and the CIS Executive Committee. In his words , in accordance with the priorities of its chairmanship, Kazakhstan sought to consolidate the efforts of the participating states in many areas, taking into account the current processes of world development.

"Thanks to joint work, a number of important initiatives were implemented aimed at expanding trade and economic cooperation, preserving our close cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as increasing the potential and international authority of the Commonwealth. In difficult geo-economic conditions, special attention was paid to strengthening the economic potential of the Commonwealth and, above all, to the implementation of the provisions of the CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2030. The successful implementation of the first stage of the Action Plan made it possible to increase business activity, increase the volume of mutual trade, and accelerate the post-pandemic recovery of economies. In the conditions of turbulence of the global and regional economy, we need to use all the available potential to maintain close trade and economic ties," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

According to the President of Kazakhstan, the climate agenda is of particular relevance. He stressed that climate change exacerbates the problem of providing water resources in almost all CIS countries.

Leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan as well as Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee also spoke at the meeting.
