President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at the first meeting of the Council for the Development of Artificial Intelligence, highlighted education as a key area of the country’s digital transformation. He emphasized that the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the educational process will help improve the quality of learning, reduce the gap between regions, and create more effective conditions for teachers’ work,El.kz reports citing Aqorda.
The Head of State placed particular emphasis on the creation of national system of digital learner profiles. According to President Tokayev, such tools will make it possible to record academic performance, strengths, and achievements, as well as to shape individual development paths.
“They will record academic history, strengths, and achievements, helping optimize university programs and shorten the time to graduation.
Moreover, based on digital profile, AI can build a system of career guidance.
Students should be offered development pathways, elective courses, and projects aligned with their aptitudes and potential. This will help identify future engineers, researchers, doctors, teachers, and entrepreneurs in advance, enabling each person to fulfill their potential and find a worthy place in life"
Tokayev noted that AI can significantly reduce teachers’ routine tasks, freeing up their time for mentoring and individualized work with students.
“Algorithms can generate individualized assignments and practice tests, grade them to speed up feedback for students. This will allow teachers to focus on their core mission – mentorship. No technology can replace the empathy and guidance of a teacher. The human bond between teacher and student must remain at the heart of education. Therefore, while introducing AI in educational processes, the Government must be guided by the principle of maximizing relief from routine workloads as well as creating favorable conditions for teachers, – the Head of State added.
The President emphasized that the digitalization of the educational process must be carried out with the country’s interests in mind while preserving the leading role of teachers. According to him, technologies should assist in learning but not replace personal interaction and mentorship.
Tokayev noted that the creation of digital profiles and the introduction of intelligent systems will become an important step toward improving the quality of education, identifying talented youth, and preparing new specialists for the economy of the future.
