President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini met with world No. 1 tennis player Elena Rybakina at the Presidential Palace and personally congratulated the Kazakhstani tennis player on her victory at the US Open. President of Slovakia also spoke about the role Slovakia plays in Rybakina’s life and professional career, El.kz reports.

According to him, although the athlete represents Kazakhstan at international tournaments, she has been closely associated with Slovakia for the past six years, where she lives and trains for part of the year.

“Slovakia has become her second home”

The President of Slovakia noted that Rybakina travels to the country to prepare for matches and major tournaments. In his post, he described Slovakia as an important part of her sporting journey.

“Did you know that the world No. 1 in women’s tennis has called Slovakia home for the past six years? "Although Elena Rybakina represents Kazakhstan on the international stage, Slovakia has become her second home. She spends part of each year here training and preparing for major matches and tournaments, making our country an important part of her sporting journey. It was therefore a great pleasure to welcome her to the Presidential Palace today and to personally congratulate her on her success at the US Open” Peter Pellegrini wrote.

The meeting took place several days after the Kazakhstani tennis player’s triumph in New York. Rybakina won her first US Open title after defeating Aryna Sabalenka in the final, 6–4, 5–7, 6–2.
