From 4 to 12 March 2023, the National Ski Center in Schuchinsk will host the World Junior Biathlon Championships, the Kazakhstan Biathlon Union reports.

The strongest young biathletes in the world will compete for awards in 18 races in five disciplines. About 800 athletes from over 50 countries are expected to take part in the championship.

"We are hosting such a large-scale event for the first time in Kazakhstan. In 2018, the National Ski Center was opened in Schuchinsk, which was certified by the International Biathlon Union and received a category A license for holding major international competitions. Having held the Asian Open Championship this year at the stadium, we tested the readiness of the Center to host other major competitions.

Holding the Junior and Youth World Championships is an important milestone in the history of biathlon in Kazakhstan. We believe that this event will give impetus to the development of children's and youth sports in our country," said Yermek Kizatov, President of the KBU.

The composition of the junior team of Kazakhstan for the championship will be determined in December based on the results of the Kazakhstan Cup, which will also be held at the facility of Shchuchinsk.
