Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov met with Kazakh scientist Diana Dushniyazova, who presented a vertical water metering system, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the ministry.

This technology which uses meters and sensors is based on satellite data. Work on this system has been going on for the last 7 years. The technology uses computer algorithms used in NASA and other advanced think tanks, eliminating the human factor. The algorithm calculates not only on the basis of satellite images, but also on the data collected during field research.

According to the developers, the system allows you to keep track of water in the fields, which has not been done before. This will make it possible to determine the exact amount of water required for a particular site, and reduce its consumption. As an example, the data collected by the system for the Turkestan and Zhambyl regions were presented.

After reviewing the presentation, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov and the heads of departments of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation asked Diana Dushniyazova their questions regarding the technical characteristics of the system, ways of its implementation, cost, as well as methods of data collection and analysis.

"Such technologies can be very useful in assessing the effectiveness of irrigation canals, which, in turn, will allow us to assess the feasibility of their reconstruction. It can also help combat gray schemes by comparing the areas to which water is supplied with those specified in supply contracts. It is necessary to move in this direction. And not only by introducing new technologies, but also by making appropriate changes to the legislation," Nurzhan Nurzhigitov said
