Satbayev University and the American University of Pennsylvania (Penn State) have officially signed an agreement on joint work, El.kz reports.
This agreement opens a new chapter in the academic and scientific relations between educational institutions already collaborating in the field of petroleum engineering. The signing of the agreement took place with the participation of the President of Penn State Nili Bendapudi and Meiram Begentayev, Rector and Chairman of the Board of Satbayev University.
This step towards deep interaction between universities was made possible thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is actively working on international agreements. An important role was played by the working visits to the United States by the Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, during which important agreements were reached to strengthen the strategic partnership in the field of education between the two countries.
Within the framework of the agreement, it is planned to expand the program of cooperation in such areas as materials science, cybersecurity and geology. Both sides will continue the introduction of dual degree programs under the 3+1+1 scheme (bachelor's and master's degrees), as well as the exchange of academic and student staff and joint research activities.
This year, it is planned to start accepting applications from applicants and undergraduates, as well as from third-year students interested in studying at Penn State starting in September 2024.
The Satbayev University team held in-depth discussions with the leadership and representatives of Penn State departments, including Material Sciences and Geology. A meeting was also held with Dr. Guido Cervone from the Institute of Computational and Data Sciences.
