The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Romania together with the Middle East Political and Economic Institute organized a round table “Kazakhstan: on the path of progressive reforms. A new chapter of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Romania”, El.kz cites MFA.
The event was attended by representatives of leading think tanks – “Smartlink Communications”, “EuroDefense Romania”, “European Institute of Romania”, “National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics”, “Institute for World Economy”, former foreign ministers and ambassadors of Romania, as well as a wide range of representatives of the expert community and media of the host country.
In his speech Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Romania Yerlik Ali informed the participants about the practical realization of important internal political changes in Kazakhstan, including the constitutional referendum, limitation of the President's mandate to one seven-year term and renewal of both chambers of the Parliament, as well as the first elections of mayors of districts and cities of regional significance, which contribute to the formation of a new electoral culture not only in the country, but also in the region. Ambassador noted that the country’s leadership is taking necessary measures to ensure further growth of the population's welfare.
In turn, Romanian experts highly appreciated the political reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan and expressed confidence that the large-scale transformation aimed at political reset and improvement of the country's welfare will have a positive impact on further strengthening of relations with Romania.
At the end of the round table, participants exchanged views on topical issues of bilateral political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as interaction in the format of the Kazakhstan-EU and Central Asia-EU.
Along with this, the significant contribution of Kazakhstan to the energy security of the region was noted. There was also great interest in the discussion on the prospects for the development of investment and trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and European countries, including the development of the Trans-Caspian international transportation route.
