“Reading Nation” marathon reaches one million participants

The number of registered participants in the nationwide “Reading Nation” marathon has reached one million, El.kz reports citing the project’s official website.

The one millionth participant registered on the platform on 14 September. Residents from all regions of Kazakhstan have joined the marathon, including school students, university students, teachers, parents, librarians, civil servants, and representatives of other professions.

On September, 9 the organizers reported that over 520,000 people had registered, while on September,7 the number stood at nearly 150,000.

Families, schools, workplace teams, and various communities are also taking part in the marathon. Participants read books from the recommended reading list, complete assignments, and have the opportunity to share their impressions of the books they have read.

The “Reading Nation” initiative was conceived as a nationwide project aimed at engaging Kazakhstanis of different age groups in regular reading and the discussion of literature. The official platform provides access to the reading list, marathon activities, participant rankings, and other sections of the project.

Registration on the platform remains open. The organizers regard one million participants as an interim milestone and expect the number of readers to continue to grow.
