Rakhmanovskie Klyuchi via the new route: Road section opened in E Kazakhstan region

A rehabilitated section of the road leading to Katon-Karagay and Rakhmanovskie Klyuchi has been opened in the East Kazakhstan Region. Works have been completed on a section of the national highway Ust-Kamenogorsk – Altai – Ulken Naryn – Katon-Karagay – Rakhmanovskie Klyuchi, El.kz reports citing the Akimat of the East Kazakhstan Region.

The rehabilitated section covers kilometres 437 to 450 of the highway. The opening ceremony was attended by Nurymbet Saktaganov, Akim of the East Kazakhstan Region.

The road is important for residents and tourists 

According to the regional Akim, the rehabilitation of this route is primarily aimed at improving transport connectivity between settlements. At the same time, the highway is in high demand among tourists travelling to the natural attractions of Eastern Kazakhstan.

“This project is primarily important for the residents of the region. The rehabilitated section will provide safer and more convenient connectivity between settlements. In addition, this route is of significant importance for tourists visiting Katon-Karagay National Park and Rakhmanovskie Klyuchi,” said Nurymbet Saktaganov.

Following the rehabilitation of the section, travel times are expected to decrease. The completed works are also intended to improve road safety and reduce vehicle wear and tear.

The Highway Provides Access to Tourist Destinations in East Kazakhstan

The Ust-Kamenogorsk – Altai – Ulken Naryn – Katon-Karagay – Rakhmanovskie Klyuchi highway is one of the region’s strategically important transport routes. It provides access to settlements and major tourist destinations in Eastern Kazakhstan.

The development of road infrastructure is particularly important amid growing tourist flows to the region’s natural attractions. As the number of visitors increases, so do requirements for accessibility, road safety and road infrastructure conditions.

The Akim of the region also emphasised the importance of maintaining the rehabilitated section going forward. According to him, proper road maintenance must be ensured to preserve the quality of the road surface over the long term.
