Qatari investors to invest $500 mln in development of agriculture

As part of the visit of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Qatar, a number of partnership agreements between the states in the agricultural sector, including investment partnership, were signed, El.kz reports citing Ministry of Agriculture.

Qatari investors intend to invest in the deep processing of crop products in Kazakhstan: an agreement was signed between the Qatari company Hassad Food, the Turkish company Tiryaki and the Baiterek National Management Holding, which implies agreements on the construction of a plant in the Akmola region. This project is estimated at 200 million US dollars and will be engaged in deep processing of grain and peas.

In addition, a Strategic Investment Partnership Agreement for the Development of Agriculture, Construction and Infrastructure Development, Health and Education was signed in Qatar between Dinara Group Holding and Qatar National Enterprises. It is planned to create a joint direct investment fund for the development of the agricultural sector of Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

Within the framework of the signed Agreement, Dinara Group Holding plans to scale up existing dairy, meat and crop production, develop its own breeding stock and build additional dairy farms, plans to build a milk processing and cheese production plant, and export finished products to China and the Middle East. The volume of investments will amount to about 300 million US dollars, which demonstrates a high level of trust on the part of partners from Qatar.

The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov held a number of meetings aimed at attracting investment and developing partnerships in the agricultural sector. During the meeting with the Minister of the Municipality of the State of Qatar Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, strategic goals and plans for further cooperation in the industry, in particular, for the supply of lamb and grains to Qatar, were discussed

In 2024, Kazakhstan intends to double its lamb exports to Qatar. As for grain, the heads of departments discussed logistics to Qatar through Iran.
