Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Lama Sharif held a meeting in the New Administrative Capital with the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Health, Population and Human Development of the Arab Republic of Egypt Khaled Atef Abdel-Ghaffar Mohammed, El.kz cites MFA.
The parties discussed issues of enhancing bilateral cooperation, attracting investment in the healthcare sector, exchanging experiences and increasing the potential of human resources.
Ambassador noted that the Government of Kazakhstan is carrying out appropriate work to localizing the production of innovative drugs in order to increase the added value of the product portfolio of Kazakhstani manufacturers, technological re-equipment of the industry and the development of R&D centers for their own developments. In this context, the investment project of the Egyptian pharmaceutical company Egyptian International Pharmaceuticals Industries Company (EIPICO) to build a full-cycle biopharmaceutical plant in the Karaganda region, which will be the first full-cycle production in Kazakhstan, was especially noted. It is expected that biosimilars (analogs of drugs) and antitumor drugs will be produced there.
In turn, Minister expressed confidence in the success of the joint initiatives and agreements being implemented.
