Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, held a meeting with the President of the Institute of Regional Studies, Ambassador Jauhar Saleem, El.kz cites MFA.
The two sides discussed prospects for cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan in various fields, as well as ongoing and future initiatives aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
The head of the Institute emphasized that Pakistan views Kazakhstan as an important partner in the Central Asian region, expressing interest in organizing joint events. Jauhar Saleem provided an overview of the Institute’s activities and structure, specifically highlighting the work of the Central Asia department.
In his turn, the Kazakh diplomat outlined the current agenda of bilateral relations, highlighting achievements in trade, logistics, education, culture, and other areas. He particularly noted the successful implementation of pilot projects for the delivery of goods through Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
The Kazakh Ambassador also shared the key outcomes of the 12th meeting of the Kazakhstan-Pakistan Joint Intergovernmental Commission, held in December 2023 in Astana, including the signing of memorandums in the fields of tourism and culture. Kistafin further emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the research institutions of both countries and supported the proposals for organizing joint events.
Both parties discussed the regional situation, exchanged views, and expressed a shared understanding of the need to develop regional approaches and create a favorable environment to enhance “people-to-people” and “business-to-business” contacts.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold a joint conference in September of this year.
