The production of medicines and pharmaceuticals in Kazakhstan over the past year in value terms decreased by 36.1 billion tenge, or 18.2%. If at the end of 2021, pharmaceutical companies produced products for 198.7 billion tenge, then last year - only 162.6 billion tenge, El.kz reports with reference to the Energyprom.kz.
There is a significant drop in the production of pharmaceuticals (minus 58.4% in value terms). The production of drugs for this period decreased by 4.5%. The production of other products in the pharmaceutical industry decreased by 61.1%.
"The most notable event in the industry was the cessation of the production of a large volume of pharmaceutical products to combat the coronavirus infection. First of all, this applies to the Sputnik V vaccine. It was produced by the Karaganda pharmaceutical complex. After the completion of the release of the vaccine in 2022, the figures fell 2.5 times, to 19.1 billion tenge, "the article reports.
"In addition, last year, domestic statisticians noted an increase in the volume of imported revenues of medicines. In January-December 2022, Kazakhstan purchased more than 26.4 thousand tons of pharmaceuticals and medicines worth about $ 1.4 billion. Growth was recorded both in physical volume (plus 21.8%) and in value terms (plus 25%)," the report said.
