Measures to speed up the passage of trucks through border crossing points with China were discussed at the Government session, chaired by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, El.kz cites primeminister.kz.
It was noted that to date there is a significant queue of carriers who need to carry commercial goods through the checkpoint "Nur Zholy". In particular, this is due to an increase in cargo traffic against the background of China's lifting of anti-coercive transport restrictions.
This queue is maintained electronically on the platform of JSC "Information and Accounting Center" of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan through the Qoldau.kz website.
However, due to a number of factors, including administrative barriers, the checkpoint does not operate at full capacity, serving no more than 100 freight vehicles per day. In turn, this negatively affects the implementation of investment projects in need of equipment and components, and restrains the development of the economy as a whole.
The Prime Minister instructed the government to prepare regulatory changes to remove artificial barriers within three days, which will promptly remove "a bottleneck" at the border and thus increase the daily flow of up to about a thousand vehicles.
"We need all these barriers removed today or tomorrow. If there is a need to pass a thousand cars through this point, it must be provided. Businesses turn to us for help. People have cargos standing around, they can't do anything there," Alikhan Smailov said.
In addition, the authorized bodies were instructed to provide information on those responsible for the occurrence of downtime and to work out measures to further increase the capacity of border crossing points.
