Chairman of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly Abdullah Shahid will pay an official visit to Kazakhstan, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the UN Office in Kazakhstan.
During the visit, meetings with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of non-governmental organizations, youth, the academic community, and the UN country team are expected
The delegation headed by the President of the UN General Assembly will be in Kazakhstan from August 11 to 12.
Abdullah Shaheed is an outstanding politician and experienced diplomat who has worked for a long time in the government and legislatures of the Republic of Maldives. As a strong supporter of gender equality, he is known for achieving gender parity for the first time among the heads of his country's diplomatic missions, as well as among its diplomatic staff.
Amid the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, Mr. Shaheed was one of the first to speak on the international stage and highlight the devastating impact of the global health crisis on the economies and societies of small island developing states.
