Parliamentary diplomacy in focus of Kazakhstan-Latvia relations

Ambassador of Kazakhstan Dauren Karipov met with members of the group of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia on cooperation with the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headed by its head Linda Liepiņa, El.kz cites MFA.

Opening the meeting, Linda Liepiņa praised the level of Kazakh-Latvian relations, stressing the interest in intensifying inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, including through the organisation of mutual visits of parliamentary delegations. At the same time, she stressed the importance of exchange of legislative experience in carrying out reforms in various spheres of life of the states.

In turn, the Ambassador informed the Latvian deputies in detail about the current state and prospects of development of Kazakhstan-Latvia relations, as well as familiarised them with the key domestic political and economic events in Kazakhstan. He paid special attention to the most important initiatives of the Head of State on the transition to a new economic model based on industrial and economic self-sufficiency, as well as improving the social well-being of the population.

The parties agreed on practical steps to expand co-operation between the Parliaments of Kazakhstan and Latvia and to promote a positive agenda of interstate relations in general.
