During a recent briefing at the CCS in Almaty, important issues related to the consequences of the earthquake in Almaty and measures to respond to seismic activity in the city were discussed, El.kz reports.

The city experiences about 20 cases of seismic activity every year, which requires increased attention to safety measures. In this regard, all collection points will be inspected to ensure that they are prepared for emergency situations. In addition, the Akimat of Almaty plans to inspect buildings for possible damage after the earthquake.

Director of the Center for Seismological Observations and Research Daulet Sarsenbayev assured at a briefing that strong aftershocks and destructive earthquakes are not expected in the near future. He stressed that over 100 aftershocks have been recorded so far, but only five of them have been felt in Almaty.

These data indicate a gradual fading of seismic activity, which makes it possible to reduce the level of anxiety among citizens and direct efforts to check the infrastructure and ensure the safety of the population.
