As of April 1, 2024, 13,536 foreign citizens are officially working in Kazakhstan with the permission of local authorities. This information was provided by the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan, El.kz reports.
Work permits for foreign professionals are divided into several categories. In particular, 605 permits were issued for heads and their deputies, 2,793 for heads of structural divisions. Most of the permits are for specialists and skilled workers — 5,914 and 570, respectively. In addition, 2,458 foreign workers are involved in seasonal work in the country, and 1,196 people are involved in corporate transfers.
The largest groups of foreign workers are employed in construction (4,297), administrative and support services (1,629), agriculture (1,482), mining (1,285) and manufacturing (1,248).
The main countries of origin of labor migrants include China (4,011 people), Uzbekistan (1,577 people), India (1,187 people) and Turkey (1,058 people).
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan regulates the influx of foreign specialists, annually setting and distributing a quota. In 2024, the quota for attracting foreign specialists amounted to 0.23% of the country's workforce, which is equal to 22 thousand permits.
