As of February 1, 2023, 13,496 foreign citizens work in Kazakhstan with the permission of local executive bodies, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Among the permits for attracting foreign labor there are the following categories: 570 permits for managers and their deputies (first category), 3,000 permits for heads of structural units (second category). The bulk of the involved foreign labor belongs to the third (specialists) and fourth (skilled workers) categories - 7,388 and 883 people, respectively. Also, 217 people were involved in seasonal work, and 1,438 people were involved in corporate transfer.
At the moment, there are 1,645 employers using foreign labour in Kazakhstan. They employ more than 411 thousand citizens of Kazakhstan, which is 96% of the total number of employees.
By type of economic activity, the largest number work in the field of construction - 5,458 people (42%); mining and quarrying – 1,879 (11%); agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 1,733 people (4%); manufacturing industry – 1,641 people (7%); professional, scientific and technical activities – 1,057 people (8%).
The main countries of origin of labor migrants are
China – 3,411 people, India – 1,693 people, Turkey – 1,615 people, Great Britain – 1,104 people, Uzbekistan – 391 people.
