Over 100 residents of Semey take part in anti-drug sports campaign

A mass sports event was held in Semey Central Park under the slogan “Sport Against Drugs! Choose Health!” Over 100 people took part in or attended the campaign, El.kz reports citing the Abai Region Police Department.

Local residents competed in arm wrestling and kettlebell lifting. Winners and runners-up received prizes.

The campaign was organized by officers of the Department for Combating Drug-Related Crime in cooperation with the Arlan Sports Club and volunteers. The event primarily targeted adolescents and young people.

Alongside the competitions, volunteers informed park visitors about the consequences of drug use and distributed informational materials. In total, more than 500 information leaflets were handed out to local residents.

Duman Ukizhanov, a senior operative of the department, noted that prevention efforts should include accessible and meaningful leisure opportunities for young people. One of the key areas in this regard is engaging adolescents in sports, creative activities, and community initiatives.
