OSCE Assembly attaches great importance to co-operation with Kazakhstan

Deputy Chairman of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Special Representative for the Sustainable Development Goals, Senator Askar Shakirov took part in a meeting of the Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly in Copenhagen, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The parliamentarians discussed current international issues and the current activities of the Parliamentary Assembly, including the organization of election observation missions, preparations for the 30th annual session in Vancouver. The reports of the rapporteurs of the three General Committees, the ad hoc committees, the Treasurer, as well as the Special Representatives for the main areas of the Assembly's work were heard.

Speaking at the meeting, the Kazakh senator thanked the leadership of the OSCE PA for sending a Mission to Kazakhstan to observe the parliamentary elections on March 19 this year. In his opinion, the participation of such a representative delegation, which included 9 members of the Bureau of the Assembly, testifies to the support of the parliamentary community of Kazakhstan at an important stage of systemic democratic transformations.

Within the framework of the event, Askar Shakirov discussed with the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Margareta Cederfelt issues of further strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Parliamentary Assembly.

The Head of the Assembly highly appreciated the strategic reforms of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the construction of a Just Kazakhstan and expressed readiness to pay an official visit to our country in June this year.
