New university subject focused on AI to appear in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has announced the launch of the AI-Sana program, under which artificial intelligence courses have become a compulsory subject at all universities of the country. This initiative aims to bring the education system to a new level and prepare students for the challenges of the digital economy, El.kz reports.

At a press conference at the CCS, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Gulzat Kobenova noted that the program will enable young people to turn knowledge into real projects beneficial for society and the economy.

“Currently, over 390,000 students have completed AI foundation courses, and over 3,000 teachers have received certificates,” the speaker emphasized.

According to her, the AI-Sana program consists of several stages:

• basic training;

• advanced training;

• project development;

• acceleration.

The implementation has already covered 93 universities. More than 390,000 students have taken introductory AI courses, and over 3,000 teachers have been certified. Additionally, 20 universities have launched 25 new educational programs in the field of AI.

Gulzat Kobenova stressed that large-scale specialist training will help strengthen the education system, introduce best international practices, and increase the inflow of foreign students to Kazakhstan.

“These steps will allow us to prepare professionals who are competitive on the global market and capable of developing their own innovative solutions,” the Vice Minister added.
